It's pretty clear what the lead Premier League story has been in the United States this season. Clint Dempsey has been on Twitter's worldwide top-10 trending list three separate times in the past month, which may be an understatement of how popular he is in the States right now. Earlier this season Dempsey passed Brian McBride as the all-time leading American goal scorer in the Premier League, but "Deuce" has his sights set on something much bigger than that.

Dempsey has long been interested at a run in the Champions League. He and the Fulham management are waiting until the summer to discuss his future, but the Cottagers may be forced into making a move sooner rather than later at the risk of losing Dempsey on a free transfer after next season.

So what has Dempsey done to put himself in such an advantageous position?
