Subotic explains his choice
In the almost two years since Neven Subotic committed his international future to Serbia instead of the USA (after all, the Borussia Dortmund defender is a product of the U.S. Under-17 residency program), American fans have wondered why he made the choice he did. Much of the speculation has centered on Thomas Rongen's decision not to select Subotic for the U.S. team that reached the quarterfinals of the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and the fact that Subotic mostly stayed mum on the subject, with rare exceptions, has only added fuel to the fire.
So on the eve of the world's biggest sporting event, we decided to ask Subotic if he would be willing to put the subject to rest once and for all. His reply came a tad too late for The Mag item, but not for your favorite blog.
