It's easy enough to get excited about a win over Brazil at any level. So U.S. fans are sure to be enthusiastic about the 3-1 triumph the next generation of under-17s provided at the Nike friendlies in Florida on Sunday. The win over Brazil capped a nearly perfect week in which the U.S. tied a very good French team and beat Turkey before the showdown with Brazil.

Though there is plenty of reason to temper enthusiasm despite the results, there's also reason to believe that the play of this particular group of 15-year-olds may signal that a long awaited sea change in American soccer is finally at the doorstep. These American U-17s didn't just win on Sunday -- they dominated possession for much of the match, were the more skilled team tactically and technically, and deserved the clear victory.
