It might seem trite, but occasionally what differentiates the good fantasy teams from the best are the flex options. As many top seeds in the fantasy postseason have found out already this season, every point matters, and seeding means little. Depth means more. Top seeds were successful in Week 15 in ESPN.com standard leagues a mere 52 percent of the time; No. 2 seeds had it even rougher, escaping to the next round of the postseason only 48 percent of the time. Sure, some of this can be blamed on top players underperforming, but in other cases, perhaps their flex position was simply not used wisely.
With that, we bring you the Week 16 flex rankings of this fine 2010 season, as we combine the best of the running backs and wide receivers into one tidy list. Maybe Santa Claus will bring everyone 25 points from the flex spot this week ... or maybe a Terrell Owens-sized piece of coal will be waiting.
Good luck to all in Week 16 and beyond; remember that there are games on Thursday and Saturday night this week. Most of all, Merry Christmas to you and yours.
