Four Downs: Kenny Britt is legit

Most fantasy football owners kick themselves -- figuratively, I presume -- when they lose a close matchup, click on their bench and see a wide receiver that has gone nuts for 40 fantasy points. I have a few fantasy teams like this today, because I didn't activate Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt. You know what? I don't feel bad about not using him, either, because the fact that he torched the Philadelphia Eagles for 225 receiving yards and three touchdowns, only the third time since 2000 a wide receiver reached those totals in the same game, was a huge surprise.

There are two main reasons why Britt, certainly an emerging wide receiver but not a surefire fantasy starter yet, seemed a poor option Sunday. First, starting quarterback Vince Young was sidelined by a sprained knee, meaning the older, slower, weaker-armed Kerry Collins was thrust into duty. Collins started six games during the 2009 season, losing them all. In his final start, the Titans lost 59-0. Collins actually wasn't awful statistically -- not Arizona Cardinals' Derek Anderson/Max Hall bad -- but still, there was every reason to believe the Titans would rely on game management and the run Sunday.

For Eric's thoughts on Kenny Britt, Drew Brees and Dwayne Bowe, among others, you must be an ESPN Insider.
