Bradford helps, but S-Jax needs help now

In a few days it's likely we'll be calling former Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford a member of the St. Louis Rams. I congratulate him in advance on his newfound riches, and maybe by 2012 fantasy football owners can start considering him someone who can help statistically. There's no need to remind you how dangerous rookie quarterbacks can be to fantasy rosters, so let's be realistic and not waste valuable blog space on that topic.

Bradford won't be fantasy-relevant in 2010, and I find it hard to believe his wide receivers -- or the options for A.J. Feeley if he's the "lucky" quarterback -- are going to be significant fantasy contributors. What does that leave? The tight end, kicker, team defense and … oh yeah, there's awesome running back Steven Jackson! Having Bradford around should help him, right? I mean, Bradford would add that proverbial air threat that the team lacked the past few seasons. Well sure, Bradford can't hurt, but it would help considerably more if Bradford was a 6-4, 300-pounder with quick feet and strong hands. Actually, it'd be nice if he could be two of those guys.

To see why Steven Jackson shouldn't be a top-5 fantasy pick in 2010, you must be an ESPN Insider.
