We can all feign surprise and dismay at what is sure to be the next round of Brett Favre's offseason roller-coaster ride -- will he retire or won't he? -- but the fact is this affects Minnesota Vikings wide receivers Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin quite a bit as well. Same goes for the Arizona Cardinals with their productive, yet prehistoric, quarterback Kurt Warner, who is also considering stepping aside for good. It's only January, but what happens at quarterback over the next seven months stands to greatly affect the 2010 fantasy football rankings at wide receiver.

I didn't rank Favre or Warner among my top 10 quarterbacks for the 2010 season, but if I knew these guys were coming back, I'd call Larry Fitzgerald the No. 2 wide receiver in my WR rankings, while Rice would be in the top 10 and Harvin and Anquan Boldin would certainly be in the top 20. But today, as I type this, we don't know whether Favre or Warner will return, and I wouldn't have much confidence in either of those teams' passing games if they didn't. I mean, if Favre retires, the Vikings would go with Tarvaris Jackson, or Sage Rosenfels, or Michael Vick, or Chad Pennington, or a different signing, or shoot, maybe they're better off bringing back Tommy Kramer. In Arizona, it's Matt Leinart, who might as well be viewed as a rookie.
