There are some very interesting games on the NFL slate this weekend, from Philadelphia Eagles-New York Giants to Atlanta Falcons-New Orleans Saints, and of course some future Hall of Fame quarterback who was supposed to be retired is returning to the place he became famous, but fantasy football owners know that all games count. Even Lions-Rams.
I always look at the ESPN Fantasy projections before I sit down to rank all players, and this week I admit I was a bit surprised. Kevin Smith of the Lions led all our projections with 133 total yards and two touchdowns, and I certainly can understand why. He's a talented player, his team has a mess at quarterback and the Rams are just awful pretty much any way you analyze them (except at running back). Smith should have a big game. Then again, he hasn't had a very good season, and while I don't doubt he will put up numbers Sunday, I find other running backs who are having good seasons and might or might not also have fortuitous matchups safer.
