It appears Trevor Hoffman is ready to resume the Milwaukee Brewers' closer role after three outings in non-save situations. However, the Brewers recently called up a pitcher who could make Hoffman's leash on the job even shorter this time.
Zach Braddock is a 22-year-old lefty who has been dominant in the minors since being converted to relief in late 2008. Last year between high Class A and Double-A, Braddock posted a 62-to-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio in just 40 1/3 innings, allowing batters to hit just .193 off him. He then followed that up with a good Arizona Fall League campaign to earn a promotion to Triple-A this season.
