Leake proving he has the stuff to succeed

"The reason you pick him in the top 10 is because you think he's going to be contributing in the big leagues by August. If he's not, maybe you made a bad pick."

Those were the words of one front office executive after the Cincinnati Reds made right-hander Mike Leake the eighth overall pick in last year's draft. Well, it's safe to say that it was not a bad pick: Leake beat that time frame by four months in jumping to a major league rotation directly out of college (with a quick stop at the Arizona Fall League).
