Don't hate the Chase
Critics grumble, but at least we have a reason to watch in September
To my friends, colleagues and readers who continue to plead with me that NASCAR's six-year-old Chase for the Sprint Cup format doesn't work, I have thought long and hard about my response to you. I spent most of Saturday night's Chevy Rock and Roll 400 trying to come up with the best counterargument to your "this is an unfair and trumped-up manner in which to choose a champion."
