I was excited to see the end of the 2010 Bassmaster Elite Series for a couple of reasons: (1) we're that much closer to crowning a Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year and (2) it gave me more data for one of my favorite spreadsheets.
The spreadsheet I'm talking about is named "Elite Series Career AOY Points," and it's just about that simple (though I added a column that I'll tell you about in just a minute). All I've done is enter the total AOY points for every angler who has ever fished an Elite event.
Since the Elite Series has been around for five years now, I think this is probably just about as good a way to evaluate angling talent as anything out there. I know there's another site that ranks pro anglers, but there lots problems with their system, not the least of which is the fact that they put too much credence and emphasis on another tournament trail that doesn't have nearly the talent base of the Elite Series.
