A couple of years ago, ESPN conducted what was called "The Greatest Angler Debate." It was a pretty cool deal. Some folks at BASS nominated 35 bass pros from the earliest days of professional fishing right up to the end of 2004. Then they handed the list off to a "blue ribbon" panel of outdoor writers (I'm guessing it was Pabst Blue Ribbon) who collectively had about a millennia of experience covering the sport, and those folks cut the list down to a top 10.
After that, it was turned over to the public — the fans — for the final balloting. In the end, Rick Clunn was the crowned as the winner and declared the greatest angler of all time.
