L.A. on the verge of wrapping up top postseason run of modern era
The Los Angeles Kings finished third in the Pacific Division, accumulating just 95 points to claim the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference. Like most No. 8 seeds, the playoff odds were stacked against them.
Since the modern playoff format was implemented in 1994, there have been 36 eighth-seeded teams and only a third of them managed to win more than two games in the postseason. In fact, nearly two-thirds of them were eliminated in the first round. But these Kings are no ordinary No. 8 seed.
