If you want to win a Stanley Cup, you'd better have a couple of lines that can score. More than many, Sharks GM Doug Wilson, a star defender for 16 seasons before joining the club's front office in 1997, understands that fact of NHL life.
"Teams that win have two strong centers," says Wilson, citing examples of the past (Avs, Peter Forsberg-Joe Sakic) and present (Canes, Rod Brind'Amour-Eric Staal). "When you have those types of centers, you're tougher to defend."
