In the December 27, 2010 issue of ESPN The Magazine -- the 'New Year, New Rules' issue -- we proposed some changes to the world of hockey.
Then, we tracked down six NHL players -- New York Rangers RW Ryan Callahan, Boston Bruins D Zdeno Chara, New Jersey Devils wingers Ilya Kovalchuk and Patrik Elias, Los Angeles Kings D Drew Doughty and Washington Capitals D Karl Alzner -- and one NHL coach (Claude Julien) and bounced the new rules off them.
The rundown follows. We asked them about no-touch icing, a larger ice surface and mandatory suspensions for fighting.
For the full rundown on new game rules from these stars, you need to be an Insider.
