Say you are an NHL GM, and you acquired a second-round pick yesterday.
You are not alone. Florida Panthers GM Randy Sexton and Carolina Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford each acquired three in the last month. And, collectively, seven second-rounders were dealt at the trade deadline, which brings this year's total to 11.
But what is a second-round pick really worth?
Hint: Maybe not as much as you think.
