Scouts may have pegged next Sean Avery
The next-Sean Avery? The next-Matt Duchene? The next-Scott Niedermayer?
We have them all for you this week.
OK, we know: NHL comparisons aren't always accurate. But in the vast world of junior hockey, few of us have seen these 17- and 18-year-olds play. So it's a way of relating the unknown to the well known.
We'll start with the next Sean Avery. Check out this scouting report from the Red Line Report, written after the CHL/NHL Top Prospects game last month: "Nasty little prick was tough to play against. In-your-face style and consistently physical despite lack of size. Drove hard to the cage with his stick on the ice prepared for anything. Gutsy and agitating." Who is this Averyesque pest? Bradley Ross (No. 69), a 5-foot-11, 181-pound winger from Portland (WHL).
