Even with Kovy, Thrashers won't beat Rangers

November, 12, 2009

Last week, I had to rally with a pair of West Coast wins to get to 5-5. That gives me a mediocre 12-14 record over the past three weeks. That's not so good. With that kind of record, I'd be broke pretty quick. Undeterred, I venture into the wilderness of the future yet again. Here are the Thursday picks.

Atlanta Thrashers at New York Rangers

After missing six games with a foot injury, Ilya Kovalchuk could be back in the lineup for the Thrashers. The Rangers, meanwhile, will be playing their first game without young pivot Brandon Dubinsky. Still, I'll take the Rangers in a close one.

To see which teams E.J. picks to win the rest of the games tonight, as well as a handful of goalies and skaters who could make a difference -- and one St. Louis Blue who should play more -- you must be an ESPN Insider.
