Through bleary eyes, I watched my new favorite show, "On the Fly," on the NHL Network at the end of a long trade deadline day. I was particularly interested in the Red Wings-Oilers highlights from Tuesday night. I hadn't been able to check in on that game, so I was curious to see what happened to the damaged Wings (Nicklas Lidstrom, Brian Rafalski, Chris Chelios, Dan Cleary, Niklas Kronwall and Dominik Hasek were out due to injuries) in Edmonton.
As it turned out, the Oilers beat the Wings in a shootout. The Oilers, who now have a single-season record 13 shootout wins, probably wish every game could come down to a shootout.
