After Saturday's Islanders-Devils game, I noticed four-time Stanley Cup winner Butch Goring passing through the press room. These days, Goring is doing some studio work during Islanders television broadcasts. If you're too young to remember, Goring won those four Cups as a member of the Islanders during the early 1980s. Twenty-eight years after coming to the Islanders in a late-season deal with the Kings, Goring is a living, breathing example of what contending teams are trying to accomplish at the trade deadline. They're trying to add that missing ingredient. They're trying to add the last piece to their puzzle. They're trying to win the Stanley Cup.
