I guess someone forgot to tell Joe Sakic and the Colorado Avalanche that the chase for the final playoff spot in the West had ended. On Sunday night, Sakic and Co. moved to within four points of the eighth-place Flames with a 4-3 overtime win over the Sharks at the Pepsi Center. Sakic turned in another brilliant performance, dishing out four assists.

On the game-winning power-play goal, Colorado's Captain Fantastic sent a picture-perfect, tape-to-tape forehand pass to a streaking Milan Hejduk. Sakic's pass was so pretty, Hejduk never had to break stride on his way to the net. That gave Hejduk the time and space needed to get off a good shot. The Czech-born sharpshooter finished the play by ripping a bullet of a shot off the left arm of Sharks goalie Evgeni Nabokov and into the net.
