It has become a season of retirement ceremonies. In Edmonton, they held a night for Paul Coffey. In New York, they celebrated Mark Messier. In Carolina, they raised Ron Francis' number to the rafters.

On Friday night, in New Jersey, it was Scott Stevens' turn. The Devils honored their longtime captain by retiring his No. 4 sweater. Stevens, who announced his retirement in September, was the first player in the franchise history to have his number retired.

The Devils' staff -- headed by CEO/President/GM/Head Coach Lou Lamoriello -- proved they could put together a fitting tribute for Stevens, who was captain of the club for three Stanley Cups during his 13-year run in Jersey.
