The Columbus Blue Jackets finally traded top forward Rick Nash to the New York Rangers, and while the Jackets wave goodbye to their franchise-defining player the Columbus blue line figures to get a little deeper.
After drafting defenseman Ryan Murray second overall this past June, the Blue Jackets now add top prospect Tim Erixon to a good group of blue-line prospects that also includes John Moore and David Savard who both got NHL time last season.
Erixon is one of the better defenseman prospects in all of hockey and is the top player upside-wise in this deal. When I polled a few scouts earlier in the season, they deemed Erixon as New York's top prospect.
