With the NHL regular season officially delayed, the start of the AHL season becomes the new opening day for hockey fans eager for live action.
The AHL's regular season will start as scheduled on Oct. 12, and there are plenty of interesting stories percolating in the league. One to watch is Buffalo Sabres' center Cody Hodgson, who is playing with the team's affiliate in Rochester, N.Y.
