Overall: Scaife saw action in eight games as a true freshman in 1999 but missed time because of a knee injury. He redshirted in 2000 because of a torn left ACL, returned as a starter in 2001 when he finished with 30 receptions for 396 yards, but suffered another knee injury that cost him the 2002 season. Scaife returned healthy in 2003 and played a contributing role as a part-time starter the past two seasons (2003-'04). He made big strides as a senior in 2004, when he finished his senior season with 26 receptions for 348 yards and two TD's. Scaife is an instinctive route runner with excellent hands, adequate-to-good speed and good overall athletic ability for the position. He is not, however, a very good blocker and he would be limited to a No. 2 TE/H-back role in the NFL. Scaife has too many size, strength and durability concerns ...
