Quarterback is far and away the most important -- and indispensable -- position in the NFL. Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers would be extremely easy selections as the players who are most indispensable to the Colts and Chargers, respectively. But what if we take the quarterbacks out of the equation? It does tend to complicate things.

Below we examine the most indispensable non-quarterback on each of the 32 teams. That does not necessarily imply that these are the best players on their squads. The positions they play, schemes and the surrounding rosters were very important in determining who was selected from each team.
