Observation deck: Kiffin overseeing change

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Five observations from Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp, gleaned from the team's July 29 practices:

1. Defensive questions

The good news for the Tampa Bay defense is that coordinator Monte Kiffin, one of the game's best, is back for a 12th season with the club. Kiffin's unit has ranked among the top 10 in the NFL in all but one of his 11 seasons in Tampa Bay, and has been in the top five in seven seasons. But when Kiffin looks around the field here, he sometimes must wonder where some of the fixtures that helped him achieve his legendary status, and contributed to the Bucs' Super Bowl XXXVII victory, have gone.
