Each Monday, Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. breaks down games from the previous weekend. Today, he looks at the action in Week 6.
Running game powers 49ers: The 49ers played a strong game on the road versus the Lions, but I didn't understand why they didn't lean on their rushing attack much more early in the game. Late in the contest, San Francisco was gashing the Lions. And Detroit's vaunted defensive line is much better rushing the passer than playing the run. The 49ers really struggled on third down and with penalties, particularly false starts. They too often found themselves in third-and-long situations, which this offense is not well-equipped to handle.
Scouts Inc.'s Matt Williamson examines Week 6 of the NFL season, including the 49ers' formidable running game, Cam Newton's decision-making, the Buccaneers' resilience, and more.
