Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson US PresswireAndre Johnson and Calvin Johnson both had terrific 2012 seasons.

Last year at Pro Football Focus we graded some spectacular performances. So to give you a glimpse of what really stood out we're highlighting the top 10 players in every NFL position group during the 2012 season and how they project in 2013.

The wide receiver group is a deep one, and one that is sure to create debate. Receiver grades can be complex, therefore scheme, usage and surrounding talent all must be kept in context when comparing players' grades.

Here are the top 10 WRs from 2012, including a surprise name at the top of the list.

Note: You can find out more about the grading system and process here.

Johnson

1. Andre Johnson, Houston Texans
2012 Grade: +29.0

Analysis: Many are expecting the other Johnson to top this list, but despite Calvin Johnson's gaudy numbers last season, Andre was just a little better. It's because of efficiency. Beyond the raw numbers that included 112 receptions for 1,598 yards, Andre Johnson led the league with 3.01 yards per route run and ranked sixth with a drop rate of only 7.44 percent.

Trending: The Texans drafted WR DeAndre Hopkins in the first round with hopes of easing the burden on Johnson, so if Hopkins develops as they hope, Johnson likely will see fewer targets than the 159 he accumulated last season, which was almost 100 more than any other wide receiver on the team. But even if the counting numbers take a step back, Johnson is still one of the league's most complete receivers as he heads into his 11th season.
