Betting Eagles-Cowboys

Value is on the Eagles on Sunday, as Cowboys tend to play down to opposition

Wait, I thought the point of the Sunday night flexing schedule option was so that we didn't have a game like the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles playing tonight in front of a national audience. At 5-6, it would be generous to regard the Cowboys as a playoff contender at this point. As for the Eagles, losers of seven straight (and six straight against the spread), their season is over. Apparently, it's unthinkable to flex out of a Cowboys game.

The Cowboys are having their typical confounding season. They look great for spurts but ultimately invent new ways to lose. Their lone ATS cover in their past five games was against the Eagles three weeks ago in Philadelphia, when the Nick Foles era began after Michael Vick was knocked out with a concussion.

The Eagles' main objective for the rest of the season is getting Foles as much experience as possible. It would be a shock if Vick is back next year, so it's paramount to try to begin to develop Foles and see whether he's the quarterback of the future. Ultimately, though, coach Andy Reid is likely developing him for some other coach.

According to ESPN Insider's PickCenter, the public regards the game as a complete toss-up with respect to the spread. No playoff implications? No problem from a betting perspective.
