Fastest fallers from the Top 200
Michael Turner, Kenny Britt among the fallers from Big Book's Top 200
As comprehensive as our evaluations are for the Top 200 player rankings we submitted with the 2012 NFL Big Book, the one thing they lack is a context of motion. Simply put: Who are the players on the upswing of their talent curve and whose careers are tapering off?
The following are the players I think will regress during the 2012 season and will see their Top 200 and position rankings depreciate this time next year. We took a look yesterday at the players on the rise. Today, let's look at players whose skills might be declining.
Michael Turner, RB Atlanta Falcons
Yes, technically Turner was outside the Top 200 (No. 201). But he's one of the top candidates to regress. Turner is 30 years old, and even though he wasn't a lead back early in his career (and the Atlanta offensive line was a liability for him in 2011), his play has dropped off. He was never much of a help in the passing game, averaging just over seven receptions per season for his career. His rushing numbers are skewed a bit since he abused a downtrodden Tampa Bay defense in Week 17 last year for 172 yards on just 17 carries.
