The problem with evaluating teams based on overall talent is in the way it can distract you from scheme. Great talent in football can be as detrimental as it is beneficial because it can take you out of your comfort zone as you set up schemes. It's a balancing act -- who should be uncomfortable, the player on the field or the coach trying new things to get him lined up right? Great talent doesn't usually "jump off the screen" as we tend to hear; it's mostly visible when a player is put in a role that maximizes his skill set.
