SNF Showcase: Betting PHI-DAL
Line analysis and ATS picks from Vegas experts on the Sunday night game
The NFC East all comes down to one game on "Sunday Night Football" to decide who goes to the playoffs and who watches wild-card weekend from their couches.
The betting line on this game has been greatly impacted by the injury status of Cowboys QB Tony Romo. Romo was injured in the Cowboys' Week 16 win against the Redskins and diagnosed with a herniated disk. The line moved from Dallas minus-1 before "Sunday Night Football" between the Eagles and Bears to Philadelphia minus-2.5 after the game to the current fluctuation between 6.5 and 7.5 in favor of the Eagles. Without Romo, Dallas will turn to former Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears QB Kyle Orton, who is 35-34 as a starter in the NFL.
The Cowboys will be without arguably their best defensive player and their second-leading tackler, Sean Lee, on Sunday against Philadelphia as well. In the four games without Lee this season, Dallas has allowed an average of 125.5 rushing yards per game and four total rushing touchdowns.
The Cowboys are ranked 31st in the NFL in opponent rushing yards per attempt at 4.8, and the Eagles and the NFL's leading rusher, LeSean McCoy, should have an absolute field day against this porous defense. Other than Adrian Peterson (2008 and '12) and LaDainian Tomlinson ('06 and '07), McCoy will become the ninth first-time winner of the rushing title since 2001.
According to ESPN Insider's PickCenter, since the Romo injury news early in the week, the public is currently backing the Eagles at a clip of 69 percent at the line of Philadelphia minus-6.5.
Let's get some analysis of the line from Jay Kornegay of the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel and an ATS pick on the game from four wiseguys:
Matchup: Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
Spread: Opened Eagles -2.5; now Eagles -6.5
Total: Opened 56; now 52.5
