After watching film of both teams, Scouts Inc. breaks down key elements of the Week 16 Chargers-Jets matchup.
• Will the Jets come after Rivers? Jets coach Rex Ryan has not blitzed a lot in 2012 to protect the back end of his defense in coverage, and he lacks an elite pass-rusher. However, San Diego's offensive line is a mess and its backs are poor in blitz pickup. Chargers QB Philip Rivers, not a guy who wants to scramble, is coming off a four-fumble game versus Carolina. The Jets' offense likely will struggle, so good field position is important, and creating Chargers turnovers could be a big key. Look for Ryan to bring a lot of pressure, both off the edge and inside, and he will take his chances in man coverage behind the blitz.
