After watching film of both teams, Scouts Inc. breaks down key elements of the Week 9 Panthers-Redskins matchup.
• Establish the running game: The Redskins continue to be one of the most effective ground attacks in the league, averaging 5.3 yards per attempt and 166 yards per contest. Carolina is solid up front but can be inconsistent defending the run. Pittsburgh held Washington at bay in Week 8, but pounding the rock is what Washington does best. Look for offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan to attack the Panthers between the tackles with Alfred Morris, while getting on the edges with Robert Griffin III on options and rollout pass-run options. He also will mix in a jet sweep or reverse.
