With the way the NFC West is struggling to put out a strong team, this game not only features teams that are fighting to avoid the cellar position but they are both fighting to remain in contention for the division title. This is an old rivalry that dates back to when the Rams were in Los Angeles and these two teams know each other very well. The Rams may have a worse record, but they are starting to show improvement, while the 49ers are struggling, especially on offense. The Rams rediscovered their ground game Sunday against the Saints thanks to Steven Jackson's return. But even more importantly, QB Marc Bulger was given time to distribute the ball to seven receivers, five of which had at least four catches.
