| Why To Watch Denver is coming off a strong first half of the season but both of its losses have been away from Invesco Field at Mile High. The Broncos need to prove they can consistently win on the road if they are to be viewed as a serious contender in the AFC. Look for them to do what they do best as result and that's run early and often. Consistently handing the ball off to RBs Mike Anderson and Tatum Bell will take pressure off QB Jake Plummer by putting him in manageable third-down situations. This is important because Denver wants to sustain long drives that slow the game down and effectively take the crowd out of the equation.
Oakland should also show a strong commitment to the run so the Broncos can expect to see a steady diet of RB LaMont Jordan. The hope is establishing the run forces Denver's defense to play the safeties closer to the line of scrimmage making the defense vulnerable to play action and getting beat deep. QB Kerry Collins certainly has the weapons at receiver and the arm strength to take advantage if and when this happens but he must be decisive and smart. Receivers don't stay open long working against the Broncos because of their speed at linebacker and talent at corner.
