In his magical 2007 season, Tom Brady did his best work against elite competition. Who else rose to the occasion in big games? KC Joyner examines.

There is a classic John Madden quote that goes like this: "Big players make big plays in big games." One of the natural corollaries of that saying is the best players are able to beat the best competition on a consistent basis.
So which NFL players were able to do this the most in 2007? To answer that question, I set up a series of studies designed to measure performance against upper-echelon competition at the four skill positions: quarterback, running back, wide receiver and cornerback.
