Scouts Buzz: Packers' D delivers

After watching the divisional-round matchups, Scouts Inc. shares some observations about the AFC and NFC championship games:

Everyone will want to talk about Aaron Rodgers -- and he has earned that. But it was the Packers' defense that ruled the day in Chicago. The Bears saw two-, three- and four-man defensive lines against their base offensive personnel (1 RB/2 TEs). Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers has a lot of very good players at his disposal and rotates them all into the game extremely effectively. He consistently gets matchups to the Packers' liking. It makes this defense very difficult to prepare for. This is a defense that can vary its coverages and blitz packages as well as any in the league.

Green Bay has the best secondary in football with three excellent corners, but its defense doesn't get spoken about nearly enough. And Green Bay's D-line is now preparing to play against a weak Steelers front five. B.J. Raji has to be considered one of the most dominant defensive tackles in the league. Ryan Pickett is a big space-eating guy who demands attention, and it is also clear that an excellent defense has gotten much better with a healthy Cullen Jenkins.
