Renegotiation requests linked to salary cap

Deal discontentment was one of the major themes of the spring, and it threatens to be a major storyline when training camps kick off later this summer. Some of the league's most prominent players, most notably Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens, want new contracts. Owens skipped the team's spring workouts, and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, recently told ESPN there was a 50-50 chance that Owens would report to training camp with the rest of the Eagles on Aug. 1.

Owens' demand comes only one year into his seven-year contract with the Eagles. Other players who have sought to renegotiate deals that still have two or more years remaining include Packers wide receiver Javon Walker, Patriots defensive end Richard Seymour, Redskins safety Sean Taylor, Saints cornerback Mike McKenzie, Browns running back Reuben Droughns and Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin.
