Here's Scouts Inc.'s take on what to watch for in Monday night's exhibition game between the Panthers and Giants:
• Carolina may have the most underrated linebacker corps in the NFL, and the more you watch them on film, the more they impress you. It all starts with Pro Bowl middle linebacker Jon Beason. He has great speed and cover skills, and his recognition and jump off the snap is uncanny. On the outside, Thomas Davis has "Beason-like" speed, is the best blitzer of the bunch and can be very disruptive. On the other side, veteran Na'il Diggs is steady and reliable. Depth here is good, with five guys you can count on. (Dan Connor, James Anderson and Landon Johnson are capable and athletic backups.) On a defense that rushes four, does not rely on the blitz, and asks its LBs to flow and make most of the plays, this is a very capable unit.
