With some teams searching for general managers, here are five names that should receive strong consideration. All five, listed here in alphabetical order, are ready to run a team and will succeed when given the opportunity.

Bobby DePaul
Chicago Bears senior director of pro personnel

DePaul, in his seventh season with the Bears, has helped shape a team that has won three division championships and that played in Super Bowl XLI. He not only evaluates players, prepares the club for free agency and/or waiver pickups, and manages the advance scouting, but he also has a hand in the day-to-day operations, including helping with salary cap maintenance and contract negotiations. He is an extension of Bears GM Jerry Angelo and one of the best pro personnel guys in the league.
