Top five strongest legs (punters)

Scouts Inc.'s top five punters in terms of who has the strongest leg.

1. Shane Lechler, Raiders

Lechler has a powerful leg that gives the Oakland punt coverage unit plenty of time to get down field to make a tackle. His hang time and distance are the reasons he's been to the Pro Bowl in past years and should make it again this season.

2. Andy Lee, 49ers

Lee is having one of the best seasons of his career . He is punting the ball with consistency, which is giving the 49ers plenty of field to their defense's back. Lee is averaging 50 yards a punt and has a net just over 44 yards.

3. Mike Scifres, Chargers

In only his fifth season, Scifres has built the reputation of having one of the strongest legs in the NFL. He's having his best year as a pro and is one of the best in the league in placing the ball within the 20-yard line.

4. Mat McBriar, Cowboys

McBriar went to the Pro Bowl last season thanks to his distance, hang tim, and accuracy. He is showing everyone in 2007 why he deserved to be in Hawaii last year because he is having the same type of consistency this season.

5. Brian Moorman, Bills

Moorman kicks in some of the worse conditions in the NFL. The distance and accuracy he has in the terrible weather conditions in Buffalo alone give him the respect of his peers across the NFL.

Other notable punters with exceptional leg strength: Chris Kluwe, Vikings; Todd Sauerbrun, Broncos; Donnie Jones, St. Louis; Dustin Colquitt, Kansas City; Dave Zastudil, Cleveland.
