Jags remain Colts' biggest threat

The AFC South has been one of the least competitive divisions over the past few seasons. It has primarily been just a two-team race, and don't expect much to change in that regard this season.

The Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars should once again be the class of the division. The Tennessee Titans and the Houston Texans are making strides in the right direction after solid offseasons, but are far from being playoff ready.

The biggest question is whether the Colts and Jaguars gained ground on the rest of the NFL. When you look at both of their offseasons, the answer to that question would be no.

The Colts did not have an impressive offseason, losing running back Edgerrin James, linebacker David Thornton and defensive tackle Larry Tripplett. The Jaguars will be without the services of No. 1 wide receiver Jimmy Smith (retired), who accounted for the majority of the passing offense on a team that finished the 2005 19th in pass yards per game.

Let's take a team-by-team look at all of the competitors in the AFC South and analyze their offseason. Have the teams improved or taken a step back?
