In the past couple of weeks, there have been a number of big-name players who have been either released or put on the trading block. These moves are often made to save salary-cap space and are not necessarily indicative of the players' skills being on the decline, but they also can be signs that the organizations don't think these veterans have much gas left in their tanks.
In either event, the question marks surrounding each player make a compelling call for a metric analysis to see how valuable they might be to other teams. Let's take a look at four of the biggest names in this category and see how they stack up:
