A revised Green Bay pass offense

We have seen all season the pass-protection woes for Aaron Rodgers and the numerous hits he has taken. On film, the offensive line is slow, and it struggles versus speed rushers and it is not good at picking up the blitz. However, Rodgers also holds on to the ball too long in an effort to let his routes develop and also his affinity for the deep pass. The coaches have changed things up, and last week we saw more three- and five-step drops and a lot of checkdowns to neutralize that pressure. In Week 11, 15 of his passes went to backs and tight ends, which allowed Green Bay to keep the chains moving. Rodgers loves to throw the deep ball and it will be interesting to see if he will stay with his true West Coast offense. Even with this adjustment, Rodgers was still sacked twice versus San Francisco, with five tackles for loss and four QB hits, so it is a work in progress.
