There are many intriguing matchups in 2008, both in X's and O's as well as sibling rivalries, grudge matches, coaching debuts, homecomings and farewells. Beyond your standard Colts-Patriots, Jaguars-Colts and Chargers-Broncos showdowns, you will want to keep an eye on some of the Raiders', Ravens' and 49ers' matchups. Here are 17 games to watch in 2008.
Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers (Week 1)The only interest I have in this game is to see how the offense improves under new coordinator Mike Martz.
Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers (Week 3)I'm not sure San Francisco will be able to run up the score on anyone this season, but Martz will give it his best shot against his former team. I will also go on the record today: the Lions are mistaken if they think they will be better off without Martz. His play calling might be unbalanced, but he knows how to coach quarterbacks and score points. Mark it down: the 49ers will score more points and accrue more total offense than the Lions.
