If you're a fan of Iowa football, the past two seasons have been a battle, possibly for your nerves. Last year the Hawkeyes were this close to being a really good team. Every game they lost was by the thinnest of margins. The script has been flipped this year, with the Hawkeyes pulling out close wins week after week, right up until the point where a quarterback injury may have doomed them in a home loss to Northwestern.

So now they go into the Horseshoe, and with a backup. Needless to say, keeping Ricky Stanzi's replacement, James Vandenberg, off the turf will be a chief concern, and it leads off our matchups.
