Personnel Points: Hawk on the rise
Iowa has produced a lot of talent on defense in recent years -- including this season
Iowa has a number of players on defense who will have a chance to make a living in the NFL. One of them is senior middle linebacker Pat Angerer. He was the Hawkeyes' leading tackler against Indiana with 12 stops (1.5 of them were for a loss) and a forced fumble, and when you watch this young man in action, you can't help but see similarities with Zach Thomas.
At 6-foot, 235 pounds, Angerer isn't one of the bigger players at the position, but top instincts, very good speed to the football and a great passion for the game enable him to make plays all over the field. He's also very comfortable working in reverse, as he tied for tops on the team last season with five interceptions.
